Welcome to Mr. Greer's Far Out Science
How can I make it easy for you to learn?
âThe best time to write a book is when youâre new to the subject. By the time youâre an expert, youâve forgotten how you learned everything.â â Roger Wagner
Just the latest edition of this website. It will probably change often as it is now a hobby and not job related. I have always enjoyed working with wiki software and pmwiki in particular. It allows web based changes without carrying around expensive web development systems such as Adobe Dreamweaver. Pmwiki is a flat file text based system that conforms to my keep it simple philosophy.
This site is low vision friendly. You can increase the text size with the + button at the top of the left side bar. It is also designed to work well with screen readers.
One of my interests include the development of Interactive Learning based on the interactive fiction model. You can get an idea of what I have in mind by visiting the first page of Fos Adventuers. (I am working with several interactive text based adventure authoring systems such as Inform 7, Tads 3, and Twine. I hope to achieve a balance between ease of use and the development of abstract thinking.)
A 718-808-3022 availble for Far Out Science topics. I chose to use a commercial discussion software package (Xenforo) due to the target audience for this site. I wanted it to be a stable and secure as possible. Xenforo is well supported, updates to enhance and maintain integrity are available on a regular basis and will be installed promptly.

It is best to view this website with Mozilla Firefox with the Overbite extension that includes support for the Gopher internet surfing protocol. Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, and Google Chrome no longer support this protocol. The command line web browser "lynx" can also be used for general web surfing and provides Gopher support. Lynx also provides excellent support for Text To Speech (TTS) services required by low vision users.(Installation instructions for Lynx and Firefox is available in the 904-987-2220 area of our discussion forum.)
